Cake Care & Serving Guide
🚗 Transporting Your Cake
If you are transporting the cake yourself, please remember:
- Keep it flat: Place the cake box strictly on the flat floor of your vehicle (the passenger side floor is ideal). Never place it on a car seat, as seats are slanted and the cake will slide or tilt.
- Air conditioning on: Miami heat melts custom icing and buttercream fast. Always run your vehicle's air conditioning on high before putting the cake inside.
- Drive carefully: Avoid sudden braking, sharp turns, and speed bumps.
🧊 Storage & Temperature
- Keep your cake refrigerated until 1 to 2 hours before your event.
- Bring it out to room temperature ahead of serving so the buttercream softens and the rich flavors and fillings come alive.
- Never leave the cake under direct sunlight or in hot, outdoor areas.
🔪 How to Properly Cut a Tall Cake
Modern celebration cakes are tall (double-barrel structures). To get the correct number of servings, do not cut the cake into traditional triangular wedges (like a pizza).
Follow these steps for perfect portions:
- Cut a horizontal slice straight across the cake, about 1 inch out from the edge.
- Fall that slice forward onto a cutting board or clean plate.
- Cut that large slice vertically into neat 1-inch bars or rectangles.
